| Now, I am going to ink
that drawing and then scan it again at 200 dpi and here is
what it looks like:

Much darker
than just the pencil, now with the curves adjustment layer
over it:

Woop! Black
black black. Now I'm going to add in the colour from the other
pic when it was pencil and notice the differences:

As you can see right
off, some of the colour is bleeding out, that's cause these
lines are much finer than the pencil sketch, here are some
details to show you what I mean:

Pencil Vs Ink

Pencil
Vs Ink
See the
line is much nicer when I inked it. Much smoother and not
as sketchy. Also since all the pencil is erased, there's
much less of a chance that any artifacts will show up.

Now just for fun I'm
going to try and actually make a sprite out of him for a
640x400 game. And here he is at like 28 colours or something:

Hmm now
that I look at it again, that blue on his back got faded
down pretty far in the colour reduction, crap. But he still
looks good enough I guess.
So I hope this tutorial
helped. The way I coloured him and knocked his colours down
is handled in this tutorial about
gradients, although I didn't use any gradients the same
principals apply.
till next time,
